The hepatic lobe is a constituent of the body of the liver. The organ has a complex structure. Through its portal channels pass blood supply segment capillaries, lymphatic vessels, bile ducts and nerve endings. The basis of the lobule is a special liver cells – hepatocytes, which have their own unique structure.
The structure of the liver’s functional units or lobules. Blood enters the lobules through branches of the portal vein and hepatic artery proper, then flows through sinusoids. The lobules of liver, or hepatic lobules, are small divisions of the liver defined at the microscopic ( histological) scale.
