Student Wellbeing Diagram

Student wellbeing can be broadly defined as a student’s overall development and quality of life. Wellbeing is a holistic term that encompasses all aspects of a student’s life, including their physical, social, mental and emotional state. A student’s wellbeing can change from day to day, month to month and year to year.
As a result, there is no consistency in the indicators and measures of student well-being within the school context (school, classroom, student). Sometimes the term well-being is used interchangeably with mental health for example. Most often, however, well-being is a holistic concept that is multidimensional. Some definitions include:
The framework was launched in 2018 and offers a set of guiding principles to help schools promote student wellbeing, safety and positive relationships in their communities, so students can reach their full potential. The wellbeing framework is aligned with state, territory and other national wellbeing and safety initiatives.

What Is Holistic Education? Holistic education is a comprehensive approach to teaching where educators seek to address the emotional, social, ethical, and academic needs of students in an integrated learning format.
Holistic health schools share a common bond of educating others in the practice of natural, non-toxic and sustainable treatments. However, each school offers their own unique approach to teaching based on their mission and aim.
Besides developing them every aspect (psychologically, spiritually, socially, and academically), a holistic school environment must be engaging so students are able to learn more naturally.

Comprehensive School Health (CSH) is an internationally recognized, evidence-based approach for building healthy school communities. Addressing the four components of CSH through coordinated planning can improve health and education outcomes for children and youth (see diagram on the next page).
