Colon cancer is sometimes called colorectal which is a term that combines colon cancer and rectal which begins in the rectum.
It usually begins as small, noncancerous (benign) clumps of cells called polyps that form on the inside of the colon. Over time some of these polyps can become colon cancers. Polyps may be small and produce few, if any, symptoms.
The stages of colon cancer are as follows: Stage 0 This is the earliest stage of colon cancer and means it hasn’t grown beyond the mucosa, or the innermost layer of the colon. Stage 1
