Colon cancer is sometimes called colorectal which is a term that combines colon cancer and rectal which begins in the rectum.
During the early stages of colon there are often no signs or symptoms. At later stages, symptoms tend to vary based on tumor size and location in your large intestine. These symptoms can include: change in bowel habits
At its earliest stage (stage 0), colon cancer is limited to the inner lining of your colon. As colon cancer progresses, it can grow through your colon and extend to nearby structures. The most advanced stage of colon cancer (stage IV) indicates cancer has spread to other areas of the body, such as the liver or lungs.
