They often occur in people who have diabetic neuropathy. Diabetes can affect the small blood vessels of the body that supply the skin with blood. Changes to the blood vessels because of diabetes can cause a skin condition called diabetic dermopathy. Dermopathy appears as scaly patches that are light brown or red, often on the front of the legs.
4. Skin Infections. Skin infections are a common norm in the diabetic patients. These are generally a sign of the bacterial infections and is seen in the toes and fingers along with other parts of the body. Such bacterial infections will affect the skin layers and cause it to swell or rise.
